Bidding and paying
Why do I need a card to bid?
A card on file shows sellers every bid is real. It's checked with your bank; nothing is charged or held while you bid.
- Open Settings → Bidding.
- Tap Add a card and enter it on Stripe's secure page.
When you win, it pays your invoice automatically after the auction ends (you can turn that off in Settings).
How do I add or change my card?
Add or replace it in Settings, on Stripe's secure page.
- Open Settings (the gear at the top) and go to Bidding.
- Tap Add a card, or Replace card if you already have one.
- Enter the card on Stripe's secure page.
- Look for "Card added. Bid away." when you come back.
Auktia keeps only the card brand and last four digits. This card pays your wins automatically unless you turn that off. Bidding without a card opens the same Add a card to bid sheet.
What is the $2,500 limit on new bidders?
Until your first payment, your max bids on items you're leading plus unpaid wins can total $2,500.
- Open Settings → Bidding to see how much is in use.
- Pay any invoice to lift the limit for good.
The $2,500 counts the bids only, before the buyer's fee and tax.
How do I pay my bill?
With automatic payment on, your card pays it for you a few minutes after the auction ends, and it shows Paid. Otherwise, pay from My bids, on Stripe's secure page.
- Open My bids. Anything you owe is at the top (also in Settings → Payments).
- Check the total: winning bid, buyer's fee, tax and shipping.
- Tap Pay $… by card (or by card or bank, if the seller takes bank payments).
- Pay on Stripe's secure page. Your invoice then shows Paid in gold.
If automatic payment is off or your card is declined, emails and texts about your invoice have a pay link that goes straight to it. Bank (ACH) payments take a few business days to clear.
Can my card pay automatically when I win?
Yes. Your saved card pays your invoice a few minutes after the auction ends, straight to the seller. Turn it off to get a pay link instead.
- Open Settings → Bidding.
- Turn Pay automatically when I win on or off.
It's on when you add a card. Sellers who take payment at pickup don't charge it.
Why can't I pay yet?
The auction may still be running, shipping may not be added yet, or the seller takes payment another way.
- Wait until every item in the auction has closed. Until then, the total says "So far".
- Wait for the seller to add shipping, if they add it after the auction. Pay then appears.
- Check the seller's page for how they take payment (cash at pickup, for example).
How is my total worked out?
Your total is the winning bid plus the seller's buyer's fee, sales tax and any shipping. Auktia charges bidders nothing.
- Turn on All-in pricing with the switch at the top.
- Read any price: it now includes the buyer's fee, tax and shipping.
The buyer's fee is the seller's percentage of the winning bid. Tax is on the bid plus the fee, not on shipping. Example: $100 bid + $18 fee (18%) + $9.74 tax (8.25%) + $15 shipping = $142.74.
How do max bids work?
Set the most you'd pay, and Auktia bids for you one step at a time, only as high as needed.
- Tap Max bid on an item.
- Enter the most you'd pay, then tap Set max bid.
- Tap Raise max bid later if you want to go higher.
Nobody sees your max, not even the seller. You can't lower or cancel a max. If two maxes are the same, the earlier one wins.
How much does each bid go up?
Each auction sets its own steps, and every item shows its next bid.
- Check the auction page to see which steps it uses.
- Tap Bid $… on the item to place the next bid.
Most use Auktia's standard: $1 under $100, then $2.50 at any price. Bids are whole dollars or 50 cents, like $102.50.
Why did the clock jump up after a bid?
A bid in the last few minutes (usually 2) resets the clock, so everyone gets a fair chance to answer.
An item closes only when nobody bids for the whole window. No sniping on Auktia.
How do I get told when I'm outbid?
Turn on alerts in Settings on each device you use, and add texts if you like.
- Add Auktia to your Home Screen first if you're on iPhone (Share → Add to Home Screen), then open it from there.
- Open Settings → Alerts.
- Turn on "Alert me on this device when I'm outbid". Do this on each phone or computer.
- Add your mobile number under Text alerts, if you see it, to get texts too.
Texts come the first time you're outbid on an item, and about 3 minutes before it closes if you're not winning. On any item, Remind me before it closes sets a reminder 2, 10 or 30 minutes, or an hour, ahead.
I won. How do I get my item?
Find your win on My bids, pay the invoice, then pick it up or wait for it to ship.
- Open My bids. Your win is under Just closed, then Won.
- Choose Ship here, or Use another address, if it ships.
- Check the auction page for pickup times, address and remove-by date, if it's pickup.
- Pay your invoice (see How do I pay my bill?).
Tick "Save as my address for next time" to skip the address step later. Tracking shows on My bids once the seller ships.
How do I collect from several auctions in one day?
The Pickup planner shows every auction picking up near you on a given day.
- Open the Pickup planner (in the footer, or from Near me).
- Share your location or enter your ZIP, and pick how far you'll drive.
- Tap a day to see the auctions picking up then, in pickup-time order.
- Bid on the ones you can collect together.
- Tap Route in Google Maps for the drive.
Once you've won, My bids shows Your pickups: each day's stops, what's paid and the route. Auctions show once their seller sets pickup days.
Why is my bidding paused?
An invoice is unpaid more than two weeks after its reminders began, or the seller has reported it.
- Open My bids.
- Pay the unpaid invoice. Bidding comes back right away.
Can I turn off the confetti when I win?
Yes. It's a setting on each device.
- Open Settings → Alerts.
- Turn off Celebrate when I win.
You'll get a short "You won" note instead. Phones set to reduce motion never show confetti.
What does following a seller do?
You get a short email when that seller lists a new auction. Nothing else changes.
- Find the seller under Sellers, or tap their name on any item page.
- Tap Follow on their page.
- Tap Following ✓ to stop, or Unsubscribe at the bottom of any of their emails.
If a seller invited you by email, signing in with that address follows them. My bids then shows their next auction first.

How do I set up payments so I get paid?
Connect your own Stripe account. Bidders then pay you directly, and Stripe pays out to your bank.
- Open My auctions (or Settings → Your business) and find Card payments.
- Tap Connect your Stripe account.
- Enter your business, identity and bank details on Stripe. It takes about five minutes.
- Tap Finish setting up with Stripe, if you see it, and add what's missing.
- Use Payouts and bank any time to open your Stripe dashboard.
Only the account owner can do this. Stripe pays out on its own schedule, and Auktia's fee is taken from each payment.
Can winners' cards be charged automatically?
Yes. With Stripe connected, each winner's saved card is charged on your Stripe account a few minutes after the auction ends.
- Open the auction, then Auction settings.
- Leave Charge winners automatically on (it's on by default), or turn it off.
Winners who turned it off, or whose card is declined, get the usual pay link and reminders.
Can we skip Stripe and take cash or card at pickup?
Yes. Stripe is optional: publish without it and collect payment yourself.
- Open Auction settings → Auction details. Tick how you take payment (Cash, Card, Check, Venmo, Zelle…) and add pickup times.
- Open the Invoices tab at pickup and tap Mark paid for each winner, choosing how they paid.
- Tap Pause reminders for winners paying at pickup, so Auktia doesn't remind them.
- Tap Report non-payment (from day 3) if someone never shows.
Winners see your pickup details and payment methods, with no Pay button. Report non-payment pauses their bidding across Auktia until it's resolved. Bidders still add a card to Auktia, but it isn't charged for your auctions.
Can I publish my auction now and connect my bank later?
Yes. Until you connect Stripe, winners pay you at pickup and you mark them paid.
- Agree to the Terms and add a card for Auktia's fees on My auctions.
- Tap Publish auction.
- Mark winners paid on the Invoices tab as they pay at pickup.
- Tap Connect Stripe under Get paid on My auctions whenever you're ready.
The Terms and the card are required; your bank isn't. Once connected, winners can pay by card, straight to your bank. Winners of auctions that closed earlier still pay at pickup.
How do I bring my own buyers?
Upload your customer list, and Auktia invites them to your auctions in your name.
- Open My auctions (or Settings → Your business) and find Your buyers.
- Tap Upload your customer list and choose a spreadsheet (Excel or CSV) or a PDF.
- Check the columns and counts, tick the box (your own customers, OK to email), then tap Add.
- Tap Invite when you're ready.
Only an email is needed. Invites come from your business name "via Auktia", and replies go to your business email. Up to 500 a press and 2,000 a day. Nobody is invited twice in 30 days, or ever again after unsubscribing. Only your team and Auktia support see the list, and Auktia never shares it, sells it or uses it for anyone else. Customers who sign in with the invited email follow you.
How are Auktia's fees worked out?
You pay a monthly plan fee plus a share of the winning bids in each auction. There are no per-item or per-bid fees.
- Check your plan and rates on the Billing card in My auctions.
- Compare every plan on the Sell on Auktia page.
When an auction closes, Auktia holds its fee on your card. About 4 days later it charges what card payments didn't cover and releases the rest. The monthly fee is charged on the 1st; your first month is prorated. Pinch Hitter has no monthly fee: a set fee per auction plus a share, capped per auction. A trial auction has no monthly fee: Auktia keeps 10% of what sells, and nothing if nothing sells. Free auctions Auktia gave you before October 18, 2026 stay free. Sellers in Texas also pay sales tax on part of Auktia's fees.
Why does Auktia need a card before I publish?
Auktia holds its fee on that card when an auction closes.
- Find the Billing card on My auctions.
- Tap Add card (or Update card).
This card is separate from Card payments, which is how bidders pay you.
How do I publish an auction?
Get every item ready, then tap Publish auction. Auktia tells you if anything's missing.
- Give every item a photo and a real title (3 letters or more).
- Set the first item to close at least 15 minutes from now.
- Add a card on the Billing card, and choose a plan once your trial (or free) auctions are used.
- Agree to the Terms and confirm your seller information.
- Tap Publish auction (or Schedule auction if it opens later).
Auktia approves your business first, usually within a day. If something's missing, you'll see "Almost there. Fix these and publish again". Tap Show those items to go to them.
Can I change an auction after it's published?
Yes, anything, until the first bid. After that, timing, fees and shipping are locked.
- Open the auction's Auction settings.
- Tap Back to draft (only before anyone bids).
- Make your changes, then publish again.
Once there are bids, items without bids can still be rescheduled or ended.
How do I set pickup days so bidders can plan around them?
Add pickup days in Auction settings, and your auction shows in the Pickup planner on those days.
- Open the auction, then Auction settings → Auction details.
- Tap + Add a pickup day and pick the date and times.
- Add one day for each pickup time.
- Put anything else (bring help, dock door) in Pickup notes.
- Tap Save settings.
Bidders collecting nearby can then add your auction to their trip.
How do I list items by scanning?
Point your camera at a barcode in Scan to list, and the name, retail price and photos fill in.
- Open the auction and tap Scan to list. Allow the camera.
- Point at a barcode (UPC, EAN, an Amazon X00 sticker or an Auktia label).
- Tap Snap to identify if there's no barcode, and AI names it from a photo.
- Tap a condition, add notes for bidders, and tap Take photo for a real picture.
- Tap Scan next item for the next one, and Done when you're finished.
Snap to identify uses one of your scans. You can also type a code or paste an Amazon link, then tap Look up. Wrong item? Try again removes it so you can scan it again.
How many scans do I get?
Rookie, Minor and Major include 50 scans a month. Pinch Hitter includes none.
- Check how many you have left this month on My auctions.
- Turn on Unlimited scanning ($125 a month) from My auctions if you need more.
A scan is an Amazon X00 sticker lookup or an AI photo identification (Snap to identify, or AI filling in an item from your photo). UPC and EAN barcodes, Auktia labels and stickers Auktia already looked up are free. Only the owner can turn on Unlimited scanning; the scan that ran out offers it too.
I have several of the same item. Do I scan each one?
No. Scan one, then tell Auktia how many you have.
- Scan one of them.
- Tap + under How many? until it shows how many you have (up to 50).
- Tap Add more items (it shows the number, like Add 2 more items).
Each copy gets its own item number, with the same photos, details and condition. Copies sit next to each other, so spread them out before printing labels.
How do I stop the same item showing up several times in a row?
Use Spread out repeats on the Items tab while the auction is still a draft.
- Finish scanning or importing everything first.
- Open the Items tab and tap Spread out repeats.
- Tap Keep my item numbers if items already have stickers or printed labels.
- Tap Renumber 1–… instead if nothing is tagged yet, then print your labels.
Keep my item numbers changes only the closing order, so every tag still matches. Renumbering isn't allowed once any label in the auction is printed. Items count as the same when they share a barcode or an identical title. The button only shows when copies sit side by side.
How do I print labels on a Bluetooth printer?
Use Chrome or Edge on Android, Windows, Mac or a Chromebook. iPhone browsers can't reach Bluetooth printers.
- Turn the printer on, open Scan to list and tap the printer icon at the top.
- Choose Print on my Bluetooth printer, then tap Connect a Bluetooth printer.
- Pick your printer from the list.
- Set the label size (2×1 is standard) and tap Test print.
Each item's label then prints as you scan it, and Print label prints one any time. Settings are saved on each device. On iPhone, use a label station: choose A label station prints it, then open My auctions → Label station on a computer by the printer and press Start. Full guide: auktia.com/labels.
How do I import a spreadsheet or a ManyFastScan export?
Add the whole export folder to your auction. CSV, Excel (.xlsx and .xls) and zip files all work.
- Open the auction and tap Import a spreadsheet.
- Tap Choose a folder and pick the export folder, or drag the folder (or its .zip) onto the auction page.
- Check the sheet it picked, if the file has several, and switch if needed.
- Review, then import.
Photos match items by file name: 101.jpg and 101-2.jpg both go to item #101. If an upload stops, import the same files again and it picks up where it left off.
How do I set my bid increments?
Choose your bid steps in Auction settings before you publish.
- Open the auction, then Auction settings → Bid increments.
- Choose Auktia standard, Classic ladder or My own steps.
- Set each price range and its step, for your own steps. + Add a price range adds another.
- Tap Save settings.
Auktia standard is $1 under $100, then $2.50. Classic ladder is $10 under $100, $25 up to $500 and so on. Your last range covers any price above it. Steps are fixed once the auction is out; Back to draft (before the first bid) to change them. Your next auction starts with the same choice.
How do I approve bidders before they bid?
Switch the auction to Only bidders I approve, then answer each request.
- Open the auction's Bidders tab and choose Only bidders I approve.
- Wait for bidders to tap Register to bid on an item. They show up in your list.
- Tap Approve (or Approve all), Decline or Block.
How do I add my team?
The owner invites each person by email.
- Open Settings → Your business → Your team.
- Tap Invite to team and enter their email.
- Ask them to sign in to Auktia with that email and tap Accept.
Only the owner can invite. Staff can do everything except delete auctions or change the team.
How do I add shipping, mark paid or mark shipped after the auction?
Do it all on the auction's Invoices tab, where each winner has an invoice.
- Open the auction and go to the Invoices tab.
- Enter a winner's shipping amount, if you add shipping after the auction. Their Pay button then appears.
- Tap Mark paid and choose how (cash, check, Venmo…) for anyone who paid in person.
- Tap Mark shipped, or Scan label to add tracking, once it ships.
Bidders see tracking on My bids. Print invoices, Email all invoices and Export CSV are at the top. If someone hasn't paid after 3 days, you can Report non-payment.
