Text alerts
Auktia Auction Alerts: a text when you're outbid, when an item you're in is about to close, and when you owe for what you won. Off unless you turn them on.
What we text
Auktia Auction Alerts are texts from Auktia’s toll-free number, (866) 522-0823, about your own bidding. We send three kinds, and nothing else. No marketing, ever.
- You’ve been outbid. The first time someone takes the lead from you on an item and your max bid can’t hold it. Not every time: once per item, and after that only the closing-soon text.
- Closing soon. About 3 minutes before an item you bid on closes, if you’re not the high bidder, with a link to sign in and bid. Nothing when you’re winning. Once per item, even when a late bid extends its clock.
- What you owe. After you win: the day after the auction closes, and once more with the final reminder if it’s still unpaid, with the amount, the seller and a link on auktia.com to pay in one click. Never between 9pm and 8am your time.
You also get one text confirming you signed up, and a reply if you text us HELP.
How often
Message frequency varies with your bidding: none on days you don’t bid or owe anything, and never more than 10 texts a day. Message and data rates may apply.
Turning them on
- Sign in and open Settings (the gear at the top of every page).
- Under How you hear about it, find Text alerts and enter your US mobile number.
- Read the box beside it and tick it if you agree. It is never ticked for you, and bidding or buying never depends on it.
- Tap Turn on text alerts. We text you once to confirm: “Auktia: You're subscribed to auction alerts (outbid, closing soon, payments). Msg frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to cancel, HELP for help.”
Or, right after your first bid, Auktia asks once: the same number box and the same unticked consent, with Text me and Not now. Not now means we don’t ask again.

Stopping them
- Reply STOP to any text (STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END and QUIT work too). You’ll get one text confirming it; after that we don’t text you.
- Or turn texts off in Settings, any time.
- Changed your mind? Reply START, or turn them back on in Settings.

Rates, privacy and terms
- Message and data rates may apply. Message frequency varies, up to 10 texts a day.
- Consent to texts is not a condition of purchase.
- Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
- We never sell your mobile number, and your number and text consent are never shared with third parties or affiliates for their marketing. Twilio, our text-messaging provider, and the mobile carriers receive your number only to deliver the texts.
