Trust & safety
An auction only works if bidders trust the description and sellers trust the bid. These are the rules that keep both true.
For bidders
- The price is the price. Every item shows the all-in figure before you bid: the bid, buyer’s fee, tax and shipping. Where a seller prices shipping after the auction, the item says so before you bid, and you see the amount before you pay.
- The item in hand. When a seller adds seller’s notes, they say what is true of this one item (box opened, manual missing) and sit above the description.
- Minimum prices are disclosed. Every item shows whether it has a minimum price and whether it has been met.
- A clock that ticks. The countdown is live and a late bid adds time, so nobody wins on network speed.
- Public ledger. Every bid is timestamped and visible by bidder number. Max bids stay private, from other bidders and from the seller.
- Pay the seller, safely. Once the auction closes, pay by card or bank through Stripe’s checkout, straight to the seller’s own account, or the way the seller says. Auktia never sees your card number and never asks you to pay by gift card.
- Materially different? Tell the seller and us within seven days. The seller resolves it with you, and we help. See the terms.
For sellers
- You choose who bids. Open an auction to everyone, or approve each bidder. Block a bidder from one auction or from all of yours.
- No shill bidding. Your own team can’t bid in your auctions, and accounts linked to your team by device, card or shipping address are blocked automatically. Shared networks are flagged for Auktia to review. We remove sellers that shill.
- Paid on your own account. Winners pay on your Stripe account, with your name on their statement, and Stripe pays out to your bank.
Report a problem
Counterfeit or stolen goods, a listing that breaks the law, a bidder or seller behaving badly: write to auktiasupport@gmail.com with the item or bidder number, or use the contact form. A person reads every report.
