Auction glossaryAuction Removal Date: The Deadline to Pick Up Your Items
An auction removal date, or remove-by date, is the deadline for winning bidders to collect their items from the sale site. Items must be paid for and taken away by then. Anything left afterward may be treated as abandoned under the sale terms, with no refund, or charged storage.
How do auction removal dates work?
The house lists pickup windows and a final removal deadline with the sale. A typical schedule: the sale closes Tuesday night, pickup runs Wednesday and Thursday from 9 am to 4 pm, and everything must be gone by Friday at noon. You usually load and haul it yourself, since lots are sold as is, where is. On Auktia, pickup times, the address and the remove-by date are on each auction page.
How do you make sure you meet the removal date?
Plan pickup before you bid, not after you win. Our list of what to bring to an auction pickup covers the gear.
- Check the removal date before bidding.
- Pay your invoice first; most houses won't release unpaid lots.
- Bring help, straps and a vehicle that fits your largest lot.
- If you can't make it, ask the house about options early.
Questions people ask
What happens if I miss the auction removal date?
It depends on the sale terms. Many houses treat the lot as forfeited with no refund; some charge storage or arrange a paid late pickup.
Can I have my items shipped instead?
Only if the sale offers it; some sales are pickup only. Our auction pickup guide explains how to check.
