Auktia featuresOnline Auction App: Install Auktia on iPhone or Android
Auktia works as an online auction app without an app store. It runs in your phone's browser and installs from there: on iPhone, tap Share → Add to Home Screen; on Android or in Chrome, tap Install Auktia. It then opens full screen from its icon, uses the same account everywhere, and on iPhone lets device alerts work.
Is there an Auktia app?
Yes, and you don't get it from an app store. Auktia runs in your phone's browser and installs from there like an app, with its own icon. Bidders and sellers (auction houses) use the same app, and your account is the same on every phone, tablet and computer.
That means there's nothing to search for in a store before you can look at an auction. You can browse and bid in a browser tab today, and install Auktia whenever you want it one tap away.
How do I install Auktia on an iPhone?
On iPhone, installing is also what makes device alerts possible, so it's worth the minute it takes.
- Open auktia.com in your iPhone's browser.
- Tap Share.
- Tap Add to Home Screen.
- Open Auktia from its new icon on your Home Screen. It opens full screen.
- Sign in with a one-time code sent to your email, or with Google.
- Go to Settings → Alerts and turn on Alert me on this device when I'm outbid.
How do I install Auktia on Android?
On Android, Auktia offers to install itself with a small Install button. In Chrome on a computer, Install Auktia works the same way.
- Open auktia.com on your Android phone.
- Tap Install Auktia when Auktia offers it with its small Install button.
- Open Auktia from its icon. It opens full screen, like any other app.
- Sign in with the same account you use everywhere else.
- To hear when you're outbid, go to Settings → Alerts and turn on Alert me on this device when I'm outbid.
Why install the app instead of using a browser tab?
Three reasons. It opens full screen from its icon, so item (lot) photos and clocks get the whole display. It's one tap away during a closing, when items end one after another and extended bidding (soft close) can reset a clock in the final minutes. And on iPhone, it's what lets device alerts work, so you hear about an outbid even when Auktia isn't open.
Pair it with outbid alerts and a watch list, and you can follow an auction's closing from the couch, the truck or the office.
What can you do in the Auktia app?
Everything the site does, because it is the site. Sellers use it on the floor too: point the phone at a barcode and Scan to list fills in the item's title, photo and details.
For bidders, the app covers the whole trip from finding an item to carrying it out:
- Search by maker, model or keyword next to a ZIP, or browse categories, Today's auctions and Near me.
- Bid or set a max bid, with Current bid, Buyer's fee (buyer's premium), Sales tax, Shipping and You pay shown on every item.
- Watch items with the bookmark and keep their clocks at the bottom of every page.
- Use My bids to pay invoices, get receipts, see tracking for shipped items, and plan Your pickups with a route.
- Find every auction picking up on a given day within your drive in the Pickup planner.
Questions people ask
Is Auktia in the App Store or Google Play?
You don't need either. Auktia installs straight from your phone's browser: Share → Add to Home Screen on iPhone, or Install Auktia on Android.
Do I have to install the app to bid?
No. Auktia runs in your phone's browser, so you can sign in and bid in a tab. Installing adds a full-screen icon and, on iPhone, device alerts.
Why don't I get outbid alerts on my iPhone?
iPhone device alerts need Auktia added to the Home Screen and opened from that icon. Then turn on Alert me on this device when I'm outbid in Settings → Alerts.
Is my account the same in the app and on my computer?
Yes. It's one account everywhere, so your bids, watched items and My bids match on every device.
Does the Auktia app cost anything?
No. Bidders pay Auktia nothing, for the app or for bidding. You pay only for items you win, through an invoice paid to the seller.
Do I need a password to sign in to the app?
No. Auktia signs you in with a one-time code sent to your email, or with Google.
