Auktia featuresAuction Pickup Schedule: Set Pickup Days Bidders Can Plan Around
On Auktia, a seller (auction house) sets its pickup schedule in Auction settings: add each pickup day with its date and times, write pickup notes, and save. The days show on the auction page with the remove-by details, and the auction appears in the Pickup planner on those days, where nearby bidders already collecting that day find it.
Why does a pickup schedule matter for an online auction?
For a pickup-only auction, the schedule is part of the price. A bidder weighing a $40 dresser is also weighing the drive, the time off work and whether a friend with a truck is free that day. Clear pickup days on the auction page, before bidding opens, let people bid knowing they can collect.
It matters after the auction too. Winners who know the days and the remove-by date from the start are easier to get through your door on time, and your floor clears for the next auction. On Auktia, pickup items (lots) also show their distance from each bidder, so the drive is visible before anyone bids.
How do I set pickup days for my auction?
Pickup days live in each auction's settings, so every auction can have its own schedule.
- Open the auction and go to Auction settings → Auction details.
- Under Pickup days, tap + Add a pickup day and set the date and the pickup times.
- Tap + Add a pickup day again for each extra day you'll be open.
- In Pickup notes, add anything else winners need to know: which door or dock to use, whether staff will help load, and what to bring.
- Tap Save. The days show on the auction page with the pickup and remove-by details, and the auction is listed in the Pickup planner on each of those days.
How does the Pickup planner bring you more bidders?
Bidders open the Pickup planner, share their location or enter a ZIP and how far they'll drive, and tap a day. Every auction picking up that day within range is listed in pickup-time order, with a route in Google Maps for the drive.
That changes the math for a bidder who is already going out. Someone collecting from another auction that afternoon sees yours on the same day and the same road, so an item that wasn't worth a separate trip becomes worth a bid. Your pickup days are what put your auction on that list. The bidder's side is covered in the Pickup planner feature.
What do winners see about pickup?
Before they bid, people see the pickup times, address and remove-by date on the auction page, and your seller page shows where and when you usually do pickup. After they win, My bids → Your pickups shows each day's stops, what's paid and what isn't, and a route.
If you take payment at pickup, winners see the item and pay there by whatever the auction lists. Tap Mark paid in the Invoices tab as each one pays, and Pause reminders for winners you know are paying at the door. More on that in cash-at-pickup auctions.
How should I plan auction pickup days?
A few habits make pickup days run smoothly for any auction house:
- Set pickup soon after the last item closes, while winners are still keen on what they won.
- Offer at least one slot outside working hours, such as an evening or a Saturday morning, for winners with day jobs.
- Repeat the remove-by date in Pickup notes in plain words, with what happens to items left after it, as your terms say.
- Stage items by bidder number (paddle number) or invoice before the doors open, and keep a set from Print all invoices at the table.
- Say whether you help load, and tell winners of furniture or equipment to bring a helper, straps and a vehicle that fits.
- Use a street address winners can drive to: pickup addresses on Auktia can't be PO boxes.
